Future Explorers Lunar Gateway
Gateway, part of the Artemis project, will be the first permanent human outpost in lunar orbit. This multipurpose station is an international project to facilitate lunar operations, serving as the first space station beyond Low Earth Orbit. Gateway will expand human presence in the Solar system. Our Gateway will introduce children to this new NASA project and will teach them of each of their modules’ functionality and purposes. They will also learn about each of the countries who are part of the program, and their contributions. Children will assemble a full Gateway station, which will have some special features, such as internal lighting, a motor to move the solar panels on the PPE Propulsion Module, a voice recorded player in the Logistics Module, with communications between Mission Control and Gateway, and an Orion capsule with a projector. This projector will have NASA-produced images of different phases of the Artemis Program.
Children will assemble the complete Gateway, at the same time they learn about electricity, optical systems, propulsion systems, communications, and solar energy.
